Greatindonesia.co.id, Los Angeles – “Saturday Night Live” cast member Pete Davidson on Wednesday confirmed reports that he and American pop star Ariana Grande are engaged after dating for less than two months.
Davidson, 24, told talk show host Jimmy Fallon in an appearance on “The Tonight Show” that the rumors of the past week were correct.
“I did,” Davidson said, when asked by Fallon whether he had got engaged. “I feel like I’ve won a contest,” he added about his romance with Grande.
Grande, 24, and Davidson went public about dating in late May through their social media accounts a few weeks after ending their previous relationships. Celebrity media reported last week that they were engaged.
The “Dangerous Woman” singer was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her engagement finger earlier this week and celebrity media reported on Wednesday that the couple had moved into a Manhattan apartment together.
Grande launched her career on the Nickelodeon TV show “Victorious” in 2009 and released her first studio album in 2013. She has gone on to become one of the most popular young artists in the United States, winning three American Music Awards.
In June 2017, she won plaudits for returning to the English city of Manchester for a benefit concert for the victims of an Islamic State suicide bombing that killed 22 people moments after Grande had finished a concert.
Davidson started his career as a stand-up comedian and joined popular satirical sketch show “Saturday Night Live” in 2014. (ant)
KIN INTRODUCED COMEDIAN NUNUNG TO DRUG COURIER : POLICE
Greatindonesia.co.id, Jakarta – Popular female comedian Tri Retno Prayudati, known as Nunung Srimulat, was introduced by a relative a year ago to Hadi Moheriyanto, alias TB, who allegedly supplied her with crystal methamphetamine, a police officer said Wednesday (31/7/2019).
“Hadi and Nunung have known each other since a year, and Hadi was introduced to her by one of Nunung’s relatives,” Head of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Narcotics Unit Adjunct, Senior Commissioner Jean Calvijn Simanjuntak, told journalists here. Simanjuntak, however, did not elaborate on the identity of Nunung’s relative.
Police investigators discovered this information after Nunung’s confession in her dossier that she had started ordering the crystal meth from TB six months ago, Simanjuntak said.
The police have named Nunung and her husband, July Jan Sambiran, as well as Moheriyanto, as suspects in connection with the case, and charged them with violating Indonesia’s Law Number 35/2009 on Narcotics.
They will be sentenced to five years in jail if they are found guilty.
The anti-narcotics squad of the police had received tip-offs from the public on Moheriyanto’s drug ring, Simanjuntak said.
Mohenriyanto was arrested and it led the police investigators to inspect a house, which was then known to be Nunung’s house. The police are still on the lookout for another suspect identified as E, he said.
Indonesia’s world of entertainment remains vulnerable to drug cases as partly observed from the arrests of Nunung and her husband on July 19, 2019.
The police investigators confiscated 0.36 grams of crystal methamphetamine during a raid on Nunung’s house in the Tebet area of South Jakarta Friday (2/8/2019).
These two arrests have only added to the list of Indonesia’s artists who have been nabbed in drug cases.
Indonesia remains under serious threat from drug dealers, as several individuals from its working-age population have been trapped in a vicious circle.
The National Narcotics Agency’s (BNN’s) report that said some 50 Indonesians die of drug use every day has not deterred drug users in the country from consuming these banned substances.
Users of crystal methamphetamine, narcotics, marijuana, and other addictive drugs are from across communities and from distinct socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
Therefore, Indonesia is perceived by both domestic and transnational drug dealers as a potential market due to its huge population and millions of drug users. The value of the drug trade in the country is estimated to have reached nearly Rp66 trillion. (sat)
BRUNO MARS SWEEP TOP GRAMMY PRIZES
Greatindonesia.co.id, New York – R&B artist Bruno Mars won the top prize at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, denying rappers Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z the honor of becoming the first hip-hop artist in 14 years to win the coveted album of the year award.
Mars won six Grammys including song of the year for his hit single “That’s What I Like,” and both record and album of the year for “24K Magic.” Lamar, 30, regarded as one of the most innovative rappers of his generation, won five prizes mostly in rap categories, for his album “DAMN.” and single “Humble.” Lamar’s victories came at the expense of veteran Jay-Z and his soul-baring album “4:44.” Jay-Z won none of his eight nominations and chose not to perform at the three-hour show.
Rap last year surpassed rock as the dominant genre in U.S. music.
On the red carpet, dozens of musicians wore or held white roses to signal support for women’s equality and freedom from sexual harassment, a theme that was echoed on stage in an emotional performance by Kesha of her single “Praying.” (ant)
