DOZENS OF RETURNING EID TRAVELERS FAINT AT BAKAUHENI FERRY PORT

Greatindonesia.co.id, Bakauheni – Dozens of returning Eid-al-Fitr travellers fainted due to exhaustion and dehydration while queuing for ferry serivce at Bakauheni port in South Lampung district for hours on Sunday (9/6/2019).

A total of 13 people fainted as of 02.00 p.m. local time on Sunday (9/6/2019), spokesman for the port’s command post Bangkit said.

They were soon taken to the ferry port’s command post to receive medical treatment

The influx of returning Eid-al-Fitr motorcycle-riding travellers heading for cities in Java led to a long queue for entry into all the seven piers of the ferry port.

The return flow of Eid-al-Fitr holidaymakers at the ferry port is expected to peak on Sunday or three days after the Eid-al-Fitr festivities. (jmd)

RETURNING EID MOTORCYCLE-RIDING TRAVELERS CROWD BAKAUHENI FERRY PORT

More and more motorcyclists continued to arrive at the port, forcing ticket counter officers to work harder.

Greatindonesia.co.id, Bandarlampung – Thousands of returning Eid-al-Fitr motorcycle-riding travelers crowded the Bakauheni ferry port’s pier 1 in Lampung province on Sunday (9/6/2019).

The motorcyclists who headed for several cities in Java were divided into two groups to queue for ferry services at the port, an journalist observed on Sunday (9/6/2019) afternoon.

In the meantime, more and more motorcyclists continued to arrive at the port, forcing ticket counter officers to work harder.

A total of 14 ticket counters were set up to serve the returning Eid motorcycle-riding travelers.

A 25-year old motorist Fathul Hadi from Central Lampung district said he had been caught in congestion before he got the ticket counter.

“Since 10.00 a.m. (local time) I have been caught in congestion and I haven’t got a ticket,” he said.

He recalled the return flow of Eid travelers at the ferry port last year was not as bad as this year. (msh)

ARSENAL IN SOUTH LAMPUNG POLICE HEADQUARTERS CATCHES FIRE

Not only destroyed most of the main buildings, but also an arsenal at the local police station.

“The arsenal of weapons is on fire as well,” First Inspector H. Dahlan, Head of the South Lampung Police Public Relations Sub-Section, said when contacted in South Lampung on Thursday (2/5/2019) night.

Dahlan explained that weapons and ammunition were stored inside the arsenal.

“In the warehouse, there are weapons, bullets, tear gas bullets, and live ammunition,” he added.

Even though the armory building was on fire, the ammunition that had burned so far, according to him, was still safe.

“Everything is on fire. However, because the arsenal of weapons is secured, everything is still in the warehouse and is safe,” he said. (ant)

TRANSPORTATION MINISTER INAUGURATES GATOT SUBROTO AIRPORT IN LAMPUNG

After being inaugurated, the airport will serve Waykanan-Jakarta and Waykanan-Palembang (South Sumatra) flight routes.

Greatindonesia.co.id, Waykana – Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi inaugurated Gatot Subroto Airport in Waykanan District, Lampung Province, into a commercial airport and opened Waykanan -Jakarta flight route on Saturday (6/4/2019).

“Right now, Lampung has two commercial airports. They are Radin Inten II Airport and Gatot Subroto Airport.. Hopefully, (the presence of the two airports) will spur regional economic growth,” he said.

After being inaugurated, the airport will serve Waykanan-Jakarta and Waykanan-Palembang (South Sumatra).flight routes, he said.

It is time to turn Gatot Subroto Airport into a commercial airport since it is located near the three districts of North Lampung, West Lampung and Waykanan in Lampung Province and the three districts of East Ogan Komering Ulu, South Ogan Komering Ulu and Ogan Komering Ulu in South Sumatra Province.

“May these flights serve as a magnate for those wishing to travel by air because the travel will take shorter time,” he said. (ant)
